So much has been going on around the Adam's household....
Our sweet George continues to do something new each day. He has us laughing even when he is naughty! He has started to bring out new songs every once in a while that he is learning at school. It is not unusual for us to be driving or listening to him in the monitor in the morning to the sound of "Chewy chewy bubble gum...I like (wike) it, I like it" or "Grandparents are special grandparents are special, yes they are..." and just this week it is "B-I-N-G-O." I wish he would let me capture it on video...maybe one of these days!
Baby Ruth is 9 1/2 months and has weighed in at 14 1/2 lbs and is 24 inches long. Still riding the 3% on the growth chart...our little lady! She continues to be very mild natured and likes to smile and clap at everything. We have been working on waving and saying hi and have almost go that down, but wait...yesterday she started to say MaMa! George heard it first while we were driving in the car and informed me that Baby was saying mama! Yay! Now she will say it periodically and it is music to my ears!
Then just today Ruth and I were playing on the floor while George napped and this is what I captured...

A much needed update....
My goodness...I have been slack on posting!
January, and now almost February, have past and my babies are growing so quickly!
Our ray of sunshine is 8 1/2 months old already and continues to bring all of us so much joy! She is a little eater, just like her brother. She grabs for her bottle or the spoon with such urgency it makes us laugh! She has started to pick up "puffs" with her fingers and is getting better each day at getting them into her mouth! She has found her voice and realized she loves to let us know what she is thinking. Whether she is saying "dada" or "gaga" (which is what she says when she sees George) or squeeling with delight at the game she and George play back and forth with each other! It is loud and she loves it, and so do we. I am still awaiting to hear the magical sound of "mama" but she isn't there yet....She is also making an attempt to crawl, it is more like scooting backwards, but she is leaning and reaching and looking like one determined little lady as she attempts to figure out how she is going to move forward. She has also started clapping her hands and loves to do that when we ask her to or if she is just sitting on the floor with her best buddy, George. It is so sweet!
George is continuing to amaze us and make us laugh as we watch him grow and develop! His speech continues to grow and we understand him more every second. He enjoys giving us a "play-by-play" telling us everything that is going on around us, and loves to point out every motorcycle, "big truck" and fire truck we see in town! He continues to love music and surprises me with his knowledge. He has recently added Keisha, Katy Perry (Kary Pary), and Bruno Mars to his list of favorites! George also is soaking up information faster than we realize sometimes. He has loved the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom since we got it for him after the holidays and knows the book by heart! I love that he is working on his alphabet, he loves reading about the letters :-) We even have heard him reading to Spot and Ollie in his bed at nap or bed time! Too cute!
We had snow in January, quite a bit came down over a couple hours, so we were able to enjoy going outside and playing! Ruth didn't seem to mind the cold flakes hitting her little face, and George really had fun running in the snow, playing ball and watching Freddy as he ran around after the ball!

We also put Ruth in the bathtub with George for the first time! Initially she seemed a bit scared, especially when George was splashing and dumping water on her head, but she warmed up to it and was smiling and hitting at the water with her hands by the end of bath time! I can tell that they will grow to enjoy playing in the tub with one another, however, it is probably going to be very wet and messy!

Happy 2011!
We rang in the new year in quiet fashion with some friends. We feel so lucky for all the past year has brought us, especially our sweet little girl, Ruth! We are amazed daily by how our children grow and develop at an alarming speed! Each day we see Ruth getting stronger in her abilities to sit alone, grab at toys, and let us know what she wants. She even started saying "dada" which has left Andy feeling very happy! This is two children who said dada first! I am still working on "mama" but haven't gotten a bite yet!
George continues to speak in sentences and amaze us daily with the things he says. He is speaking clearer and seems more interested in words and communication in general! He has gotten more excited about reading and is branching out in his favorites that he likes to read at bedtime! He is also still super obsessed with his baby sister and has become quite protective of her when people come up to her to say hello, he will say, "That's my baby." We are hoping that he will continue this protective and sweet nature towards her for the rest of their lives! Ruth is also quite enamored with her brother and lights up when he comes near her! Both Andy and I think that George is Ruth's favorite!

Trip to Florida for Amy and Michaels Wedding
We began our road trip to Orlando the day after Christmas heading down for Amy and Michael's wedding. For most of the drive we were watching beautiful snowflakes fall which was very exciting to see!
The kids were AWESOME on our travels. They slept or talked, or sang or watched Elmo for the entire time! We slept in a hotel in Georgia halfway down and ended up having a slumber party after George feel out of the bed he was sleeping in alone...This prompted a quick call to the Orlando hotel requesting a second pack-n-play to avoid any further mishaps!
The wedding was beautiful. The kids were darling and so well behaved. Ruth enjoyed being passed from relative to relative, or Disney staff member to Disney staff member, and was all smiles the whole time! George was his normal sweet self and loved seeing everyone. Holidays
For the first time in my life we spend the holidays without family, well, other than each other and our two little munchkins. We stayed in Wilmington and laughed as we thought about how it felt like we were "playing grown up."
To bring some tradition to our holidays we had the Owen family traditional Christmas Eve dinner of shrimp and cheese fondue. We invited over some friends to join us for dinner and had a nice time. We also made it out for a Christmas Eve service, although it was at 4 pm (times have changed with little ones). We tried out a church that I had been thinking about for a while and I really enjoyed the service. Andy was in charge of George and had to walk him around outside a few times, however, Ruth fell asleep on my chest after flirting with a little boy that was sitting next to me and drew admiring gazes as I walked up for communion with her.
This Christmas was not "outrageous" for presents, but we were excited as we set up for a surprised little guy the next morning. Santa produced and George was thrilled with his new bike, and rode it around all morning. He was also quite delighted with the trains that have been added to his collection. Ruth sat quietly as she smiled at her brother and enjoyed his excitement. She was tickled with some of the "recycled" toys that showed up under the tree for her (and we think George was smitten with them as well).
We had a wonderful brunch with out friends the Giblins and George had fun playing with his best buddy Daniel. Andy and I then made the attempt at individual beef wellingtons (again, another Owen family tradition for Christmas dinner) and it was a huge success! We also opened up one of our "good" wines to enjoy with our holiday meal. All and all I would say that Christmas was a wonderful time had by all in our household!
